Unit Plan title: FIRE!

Brief summary: Following introduction and practice with standards involving equations and the Pythagorean Theorem, students role play as teams of firefighters and use these mathematics standards to determine how to safely rescue the victim of a fire. Once the victim is “rescued,” student teams will produce and present a multimedia presentation that demonstrates the math skills used to complete the firefighting project and highlights the significance of math in the field of firefighting.
